Fort Smith Paper was founded circa 1895 in downtown Fort Smith, AR. Supplying the business needs of the downtown merchants and manufacturers. The business was moved to a 2 story building with a basement across from the Judge Parker Courthouse national historic site. Robert and Peggy Gordon acquired the business from the Sipe family in 1974. The property was condemned by the city in the late 70’s to make way for the planned construction of the original Garrison Wall. The business was moved to its current location on South Zero Sreet. Don and Sherry Wilson (Robert and Peggy’s daughter) bought the business in 1999. The current owner, Bret Wilson is 3rd generation in the business.
A lot has changed when it comes to supplying business in the new millennium, but our focus on the customer has not. While we offer online ordering via our web catalog, by e-mail, and fax, when you call, you always get to talk to one of our customer service representatives. We have aligned ourselves with industry leading vendors in all our market segments. Georgia Pacific, Spartan Chemical, Clorox, and S.C. Johnson to name just a few.
Fort Smith Paper joined Network Distribution in 1976. Network is a group of privately owned distributors that have contracted to provide supplies to national and even international accounts. Network has grown into the largest independent marketing group in the industry. This allows for group purchasing programs that make us more competitive in the marketplace, and allows for sharing of best practices to run our business more efficiently.
